Improvements from previous years

In order to continually improve your children's basketball experience, ELYB has purchased additional gym time.  This means a slight reduction in teams having to share gym space.  This also means that the majority of this year's Instructional sessions will be relocated to Flanders Elementary School (we are minimizing the use of NCS). Last but not least , so our kids look good on the court, this year's Recreational and Instructional T-Shirts will be made of the more popular dry-fit material.

The East Lyme Youth Basketball (ELYB) league is open East Lyme resident boys and girls who will be in 2nd through 12th grade. Both new and experienced players are encouraged to join. It is recommended that you sign up early, as openings may be limited. The number of teams will be determined after the final registration date. A player who signs up after that date will be placed on a team if a roster spot is available in the appropriate league. If no spot is available, the player’s name will be placed on a waiting list. Registrants will be notified if they have been placed on a waiting list.

ELYB is a grade-based program.  The grade based system allows children with “early” birthdays (before January 1st) to participate with their classmates. We intend to group ages as designated below. Leagues and grade designations are as follows:

Boys 2nd Grade Introductory League (27.5 inch basketball with lowered goals)
Girls 2nd/3rd Grade Instructional League (27.5 inch basketball with lowered goals)
Boys 3rd Grade Instructional League (27.5 inch basketball with lowered goals)
Boys 4th/5th Grade Intermediate League (28.5 inch basketball)
Girls 4th/5thGrade Intermediate League (28.5 inch basketball)
Boys 6th/7th Grade Junior League (29.5 inch basketball)
Girls 6th/7th/8th Grade Junior League (28.5 inch basketball)
Girls 9th/12th Grade Senior League (28.5 inch basketball)
Boys 8th/9th/10th Grade Senior League (29.5 inch basketball)
Boys 11th/12th Grade High School League (29.5 inch basketball)
